New Student Registration

Please read: These forms are for new students who live in the Canton Local School District or for those with approved applications.

Steps to register your child(ren) in Canton Local School District:

  1. Complete online registration.Click the New Student Registration button above to create an account for your child (ren). Watch the video on the right side of the page for help. Registration is not complete until all required documentation has been collected. Note: Parents of students currently attending preschool through Canton Local Schools do not need to re-register for kindergarten. You will receive a separate email with instructions.

  2. As you complete your online forms, you will need to upload the required documentation in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please name each file with your student’s first and last name (as it appears on the birth certificate), and include the contents of the file (e.g., Sam Smith Birth Certificate.pdf).

Items needed for registration:

  • Child's birth certificate

  • Two proofs of residency

  • Parent/guardian photo ID

  • Vaccination records

  • Child's Social Security card

  • Custody papers, if applicable

Proof of Residency

  • Proof of residency is required for all students registering at Canton Local and must be submitted with the registration form. Parents or guardians must provide two current (less than three months old) approved proofs of residency.
  • Acceptable utility bills include electric, gas, water, sewer, and cable/internet. The bill must show both the service and mailing address and be in the parent or guardian’s name.
  • Other acceptable documents include a monthly mortgage statement, signed lease or rental agreement, pay stub, insurance statement, car payment statement, or official letters from government agencies—each showing the parent’s name and current address.
  • Not acceptable: Post office boxes and cell phone bills are not accepted, as they do not include a service address.

Preschool Registration

The Wildcat Preschool offers early development learning for children who live in the Canton Local School District. The program is rated 5 stars by the Ohio Department of Education—the highest rating a preschool can receive. Wildcat Preschool includes free meals and transportation to and from Faircrest Memorial Elementary School. Class rosters are filling fast for fall. Call 330-484-8022 for more information or to add your child’s name to the waitlist.

To be considered for free or reduced tuition, please also provide proof of income, such as:

  • Current pay stub

  • Previous year’s tax return

  • Public assistance financial forms
