Canton Local Schools Announces Joe Bogdan, Jr. as Athletic Director
(Pending Board Approval March 16)
Canton Local Schools has announced the hiring of Joe Bogdan, Jr. as the district’s next Athletic Director, pending approval by the Board of Education at its March 16 meeting.
Bogdan currently serves as Director of Sports, Athletic Partnerships, Facilities, and Physical Education for Canton City Schools, a position he has held since August 2021. In this district leadership role, he oversees athletic programming, facilities, and partnerships across multiple schools.
Prior to joining Canton City Schools, Bogdan served as Athletic Director at Lake High School. Earlier in his career, he spent 16 years at East Canton Local Schools as both a math teacher and athletic director.
A 1986 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas, Bogdan has also served as head boys basketball coach at Tuscarawas Central Catholic, Fairless, and East Canton, bringing decades of experience working with student-athletes and coaches across Stark County.
At Canton Local, Bogdan will oversee the district’s athletic programs and facilities, working closely with coaches, administrators, and the community to support student-athletes and ensure Wildcat athletic programs continue to thrive at all levels.
Superintendent Larry Tausch said Bogdan’s experience and leadership will be a strong asset for the district.
"Joe brings a deep understanding of athletics, strong organizational leadership, and a genuine commitment to supporting student-athletes and coaches," said Tausch. "We are excited to welcome him to Canton Local and look forward to the leadership he will provide as we continue to build strong opportunities for our students both on and off the field."
Bogdan said he is excited to join the Wildcat community and continue supporting student-athletes across the district.
"Canton Local has a strong tradition of athletics and community pride," Bogdan said. "I’m honored for the opportunity to join the district and look forward to working with the coaches, students, and community to continue building programs that support student success and school pride."
Bogdan’s experience in athletic leadership and his strong connections throughout Stark County athletics make him a natural fit for the Canton Local community.
