Canton South Names Kyle Arrowsmith Head Varsity Baseball Coach

CANTON, Ohio — Canton South High School has named Kyle Arrowsmith as its new head varsity baseball coach. The Board of Education approved the hire at its regular meeting on December 15.

Arrowsmith brings experience coaching at the varsity, junior varsity, and freshman levels, most recently serving as the varsity pitching coach at Northwest High School. In that role, he assisted with practice planning, game strategy, and player development, and helped guide the program to one of the lowest earned run averages in school history.

Previously, Arrowsmith was the head junior varsity baseball coach at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School during the 2023–24 season, where he supported varsity game planning, led youth development clinics and summer camps, and helped advance multiple players to varsity roles. He also served as head freshman coach at Archbishop Hoban High School from 2020 to 2022, with several players contributing to a state championship team.

A graduate of the University of Akron, Arrowsmith holds a “Fundamentals of Coaching” certification, a Pupil Activity Permit, and CPR/First Aid/AED certification. He has completed “Heads Up Concussion” training and brings experience with video analysis tools, including Hudl and GameChanger.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Arrowsmith to Canton South,” said Matt Dennison, CSHS Athletic Director. “His experience across multiple levels of high school baseball, combined with his focus on player development and program culture, made him a strong fit for our student-athletes and our baseball program.”

“I’m honored to join Canton South and lead the baseball program,” Arrowsmith said. “My focus is on developing student-athletes who compete with discipline, work ethic, and pride, while emphasizing teamwork, academic achievement, and community involvement.”

Coach Arrowsmith met with prospective Canton South baseball players on Tuesday during a meet-and-greet at Canton South High School. The event provided student-athletes with an opportunity to connect with the new head coach, ask questions, and learn more about expectations and the direction of the Wildcat baseball program.
