Not A New Tax Canton Local Schools is asking voters to renew an existing levy on the May 5, 2026, ballot. The 10.8-mill levy has been in place since 2001, and its last five-year renewal was approved in 2021. It supports day-to-day operations (such as staff and supplies) and permanent improvements (such as buses and building upgrades).

Welcome New Kindergarten Students
Faircrest Memorial Elementary School will host “May K Day,” a special event dedicated to preparing children and parents for kindergarten. This event is designed for children who will be five years old on or before August 18, 2026, and reside within the district.
Event Details: Date: Friday, May 1, 2026
Location: Faircrest Elementary
Time: Two sessions at 9:00 am and 1:15 pm
What to Expect:
• Interactive Kindergarten Experience: Children will engage in kindergarten activities with a teacher.
• Parent Information Session: Parents will learn about kindergarten expectations and how to prepare their child.
• Nurse Availability: A nurse will be present for health-related queries.
• KRA Testing Sign-Up: Sign up for the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) testing in August.
• Light Refreshments: Enjoy snacks and mingle with other families.
Who Should Attend:
May K Day is open to new kindergarten families and Wildcat preschool students moving on to kindergarten.
